46.    Ascending a hill west of the lake, after prayer all night, He chooses the Twelve Apostles; His

Charge,

And it came to pass in those days, Luke 6:12

[And he goeth up Mark 3:13 / that he went out Luke 6:12]

into a mountain Mark 3:13, Luke 6:12 to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12 and when it was day, Luke 6:13

[and calleth Mark 3:13 / he called Luke 6:13]

unto him Mark 3:13, Luke 6:13 his disciples: and of them he chose Luke 6:13

[whom he would: Mark 3:13 / twelve, Luke 6:13]

whom also he named apostles; Luke 6:13 and they came unto him. Mark 3:13 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; Matt 10:2

[The first, Mat 10:2 / And Mark 3:16]

Simon, Matt 10:2, Mark 3:16, Luke 6:14

[who is called Peter, Matt 10:2 / he surnamed Peter; Mark 3:16 / (whom he also named Peter,) Luke 6:14]

and Andrew Matt 10:2, Mark 3:16, Luke 6:14 his brother; Matt 10:2, Luke 6:14 and Mark 3:17 James Matt 10:2, Mark 3:17, Luke 6:14 the son of Zebedee, Matt 10:2, Mark 3:17 and John Matt 10:2, Mark 3:17, Luke 6:14

[his brother; Matt 10:2 / the brother of James; Mark 3:17]

Mark 3:17-18

17 and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

18 and

Philip, and Bartholomew; Matt 10:3, Mark 3:18, Luke 6:14 and Matt 10:3, Mark 3:18 Matthew Matt 10:3, Mark 3:18, Luke 6:15 the publican; Matt 10:3 and Mark 3:18, Luke 6:15 Thomas, Matt 10:3, Mark 3:18, Luke 6:15 and Mark 3:18 James the son of Alphaeus, and Matt 10:3, Mark 3:18, Luke 6:15 Lebbaeus, whose surname was Matt 10:3 Thaddaeus; Matt 10:3, Mark 3:18 and Mark 3:18 Simon Matt 10:4, Mark 3:18, Luke 6:15 the Canaanite, Matt 10:4, Mark 3:18 called Zelotes, Luke 6:15 and Judas the brother of James, Luke 6:16 and Judas Iscariot, Matt 10:4, Mark 3:19, Luke 6:16

[who Matt 10:4 / which Mark 3:19, Luke 6:16]

also Matt 10:4, Mark 3:19, Luke 6:16

[betrayed him. Matt 10:4, Mark 3:19 / was the traitor. Luke 6:16]

And Matt 10:1, Mark 3:14 when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, Matt 10:1 he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, Mark 3:14 and Matt 10:1, Mark 3:15 to have power Mark 3:15 to heal Matt 10:1, Mark 3:15 all manner of Matt 10:1

[sicknesses, Matt 10:1/ sickness and all manner of disease. Mark 3:15]

and Mark 3:15 he gave them power against unclean spirits, Matt 10:1 to cast Matt 10:1, Mark 3:15

[them out, Matt 10:1 / out devils: Mark 3:15]

Matthew 10:5-42

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

12 And when ye come into an house, salute it.

13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

19 But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20 For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

21 And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

23 But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

26 Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

27 What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

Luke 6:17-19

17 And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

18 And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.

19 And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.

and they went into an house. Mark 3:19

47.    Sermon on the mount, on the level below the hilltop,

And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: Matt 5:1 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, Luke 6:20 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, Matt 5:2

[saying Matt 5:2 / and said Luke 6:20]

Blessed Matt 5:3, Luke 6:20

[are the Matt 5:3 / be ye Luke 6:20]

poor Matt 5:3, Luke 6:20 in spirit: Matt 5:3 for Matt 5:3, Luke 6:20

[theirs Matt 5:3 / yours Luke 6:20]

is the kingdom of Matt 5:3, Luke 6:20

[heaven. Matt 5:3 / God. Luke 6:20]

Blessed are Matt 5:4, Luke 6:21

[they Matt 5:4/ ye Luke 6:21]

that Matt 5:4, Luke 6:21

[mourn: Matt 5:4/ weep Luke 6:21]

now: Luke 6:20 for Matt 5:4, Luke 6:21

[they Matt 5:4/ ye Luke 6:21]

[shall be comforted. Matt 5:4/ shall laugh. Luke 6:21]

Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matt 5:5 Blessed are Matt 5:6, Luke 6:21

[they which do Matt 5:6/ ye that Luke 6:21]

hunger Matt 5:6, Luke 6:21 now Luke 6:21 and thirst after righteousness: Matt 5:6 for Matt 5:6, Luke 6:21

[they Matt 5:6/ ye Luke 6:21]

shall be filled. Matt 5:6, Luke 6:21

Matthew 5:7-10

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are ye, when men shall Matt 5:11, Luke 6:22 revile you, and persecute you, Matt 5:11 hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, Luke 6:22

[and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, Matt 5:11 / and cast out your name as evil, Luke 6:22]

[for my sake. Matt 5:11 / for the Son of man's sake. Luke 6:22]

Rejoice Matt 5:12, Luke 6:23 ye in that day, Luke 6:23 and be exceeding glad: Matt 5:12 and leap for joy: Luke 6:23 for, Matt 5:12, Luke 6:23 behold, Luke 6:23

[great is your reward Matt 5:12 / your reward is great Luke 6:23]

in heaven: for Matt 5:12, Luke 6:23

[so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matt 5:12 / in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets. Luke 6:23]

Luke 6:24-26

24 But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

25 Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger. Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

Matthew 5:13-42

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

25 Agree with thine adversary quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him; lest at any time the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison.

26 Verily I say unto thee, Thou shalt by no means come out thence, till thou hast paid the uttermost farthing.

27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

31 It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:

32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

33 Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

35 Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:

39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also.

41 And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.

42 Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. Matt 5:43 But I say unto you Matt 5:44, Luke 6:27 which hear, Luke 6:27 Love your enemies, Matt 5:44, Luke 6:27 do good to them Matt 5:44, Luke 6:27

[that Matt 5:44/ whichLuke 6:27]

hate you, Matt 5:44, Luke 6:27 bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, Matt 5:44, Luke 6:28 and persecute you; Matt 5:44

Luke 6:29-31

29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt 5:45 For if ye love them which love you, what Matt 5:46, Luke 6:32

[reward Matt 5:46 / thank Luke 6:32]

have ye? Matt 5:46, Luke 6:32

[do not even the publicans the same? Matt 5:46 / for sinners also love those that love them. Luke 6:32]

And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Matt 5:47

Luke 6:33-35

33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.

34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

Be ye therefore Matt 5:48, Luke 6:36

[perfect, Matt 5:48 / merciful, Luke 6:36]

even Matt 5:48 as your Father Matt 5:48, Luke 6:36

[which is in heaven is perfect. Matt 5:48 / also is merciful. Luke 6:36]

Matthew 6:1-34

1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Judge not, Matt 7:1, Luke 6:37

[that ye be not Matt 7:1/ and ye shall not be Luke 6:37]

judged: Matt 7:1, Luke 6:37

Luke 6:37-38

37 condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and Matt 7:2

[with what Matt 7:2 / For with the same Luke 6:38]

measure Matt 7:2, Luke 6:38 that Luke 6:38 ye mete Matt 7:2, Luke 6:38 withal Luke 6:38 it shall be measured to you again. Matt 7:2, Luke 6:38

Luke 6:39-40

39 And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?

40 The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but Matt 7:3, Luke 6:41

[considerest Matt 7:3 / perceivest Luke 6:41]

not the beam that is in thine own eye? Matt 7:3, Luke 6:41

[Or how wilt Matt 7:4 / Either how canst Luke 6:42]

thou say to thy brother, Matt 7:4, Luke 6:42 Brother, Luke 6:42 let me pull out the mote Matt 7:4, Luke 6:42

[out of Matt 7:4 / that is in Luke 6:42]

thine eye; Matt 7:4, Luke 6:42

[and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Matt 7:4 / when thou thyself beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Luke 6:42]

Thou hypocrite, Matt 7:5, Luke 6:42

[first cast out Matt 7:5 / cast out first Luke 6:42]

the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to Matt 7:5, Luke 6:42

[cast out Matt 7:5 / pull out Luke 6:42]

the mote Matt 7:5, Luke 6:42

[out of Matt 7:5 / that is in Luke 6:42]

thy brother's eye. Matt 7:5, Luke 6:42

Matthew 7:6-14

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:15-16

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits.

Luke 6:43-44

43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

44 For every tree is known by his own fruit.

[Do men gather grapes of thorns, Matt 7:16 / nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. Luke 6:44]

[or figs of thistles? Matt 7:16 / For of thorns men do not gather figs, Luke 6:44]

Matthew 7:17-19

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. Luke 6:45 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matt 7:20 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luke 6:46

Matthew 7:21-23

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Therefore Matt 7:24 whosoever Matt 7:24, Luke 6:47 cometh to me, and Luke 6:47 heareth Matt 7:24, Luke 6:47

[these sayings of mine, Matt 7:24 / my sayings, Luke 6:47]

and doeth them, I will Matt 7:24, Luke 6:47

[liken him unto a wise man, Matt 7:24 / shew you to whom he is like: Luke 6:47]

He is like a man Luke 6:48 which built Matt 7:24, Luke 6:48

[his Matt 7:24 / an Luke 6:48]

[upon Matt 7:24 / on Luke 6:48]

a rock: Matt 7:24, Luke 6:48 And the rain descended, Matt 7:25 and when the flood arose, Luke 6:48 and the floods came, and the winds blew, and Matt 7:25 the stream Luke 6:48 beat Matt 7:25, Luke 6:48 vehemently Luke 6:48 upon that house; Matt 7:25, Luke 6:48 and could not shake it: Luke 6:48 and it fell not: Matt 7:25 for it was founded upon a rock. Matt 7:25, Luke 6:48

[And every one Matt 7:26 / But he Luke 6:49]

that heareth Matt 7:26, Luke 6:49 these sayings of mine, Matt 7:26 and doeth Matt 7:26, Luke 6:49 them Matt 7:26 not, Matt 7:26, Luke 6:49

[shall be likened unto a foolish man, which Matt 7:26 / is like a man that Luke 6:49]

without a foundation Luke 6:49 built Matt 7:26, Luke 6:49

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and Matt 7:27 against which the stream did Luke 6:49 beat Matt 7:27, Luke 6:49 vehemently Luke 6:49 upon that house; Matt 7:27 and Matt 7:27, Luke 6:49 immediately Luke 6:49 it fell: and Matt 7:27, Luke 6:49

[great was the fall of it. Matt 7:27 / the ruin of that house was great. Luke 6:49]

Matthew 7:28-29

28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Matt 8:1

48.    Healing of the centurion’s servant,

Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, Luke 7:1 and when Matt 8:5

[Jesus Matt 8:5 / he Luke 7:1]

was Matt 8:5 entered into Capernaum, Matt 8:5, Luke 7:1

Luke 7:2-3

2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

3 And when he heard of Jesus,

[there came unto him a centurion, Matt 8:5 / he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, Luke 7:3]

beseeching him, Matt 8:5, Luke 7:3 that he would come and heal his servant. Luke 7:3 and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. Matt 8:6

Luke 7:4-5

4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. Matt 8:7 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, Luke 7:6 The centurion Matt 8:8, Luke 7:6 sent friends to him, Luke 7:6

[answered and said, Matt 8:8 / saying unto him, Luke 7:6]

Lord, Matt 8:8, Luke 7:6 trouble not thyself: for Luke 7:6 I am not worthy that thou shouldest Matt 8:8, Luke 7:6

[come Matt 8:8 / enter Luke 7:6]

under my roof: Matt 8:8, Luke 7:6 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: Luke 7:7

[but speak the word only, Matt 8:8 / but say in a word, Luke 7:7]

and my servant shall be healed. Matt 8:8, Luke 7:7 For I Matt 8:9, Luke 7:8 also Luke 7:8 am a man Matt 8:9, Luke 7:8 set Luke 7:8 under authority, having Matt 8:9, Luke 7:8

[soldiers under me: Matt 8:9 / under me soldiers, Luke 7:8]

and I say Matt 8:9, Luke 7:8

[to this man, Matt 8:9 / unto one, Luke 7:8]

Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. Matt 8:9, Luke 7:8 When Jesus heard Matt 8:10, Luke 7:9

[it, Matt 8:10 / these things, Luke 7:9]

he marvelled Matt 8:10, Luke 7:9 at him, and turned him about, Luke 7:9 and said Matt 8:10, Luke 7:9

[to them Matt 8:10 / unto the people Luke 7:9]

that followed Matt 8:10, Luke 7:9 him, Luke 7:9 Verily Matt 8:10 I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. Matt 8:10, Luke 7:9

Matthew 8:11-13

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick. Luke 7:10

49.    Raising of the widow’s son at Nain,

Luke 7:11-17

11 And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

16 And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

17 And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.

50.    John the Baptist’s mission of inquiry from his dungeon at Machaerus,

And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. Luke 7:18 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, Matt 11:2 And John calling unto him two of his disciples Luke 7:19 he Matt 11:2 sent Matt 11:2, Luke 7:19

[two of his disciples, Matt 11:2 / them Luke 7:19]

to Jesus, Luke 7:19

[And said unto him, Matt 11:3 / saying, Luke 7:19]

Art thou he that should come, or Matt 11:3, Luke 7:19

[do we look Matt 11:3 / look we Luke 7:19]

for another? Matt 11:3, Luke 7:19

Luke 7:20-21

20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

Then Luke 7:22 Jesus Matt 11:4, Luke 7:22

[answered and Matt 11:4 / answering Luke 7:22]

said unto them, Go Matt 11:4, Luke 7:22 your way, Luke 7:22 and Matt 11:4, Luke 7:22

[shew Matt 11:4 / tell Luke 7:22]

John Matt 11:4, Luke 7:22 again Matt 11:4

things Matt 11:4, Luke 7:22

[which ye do hear and see: Matt 11:4 / ye have seen and heard; Luke 7:22]

[The blind receive their sight, Matt 11:5 / how that the blind see, Luke 7:22]

and Matt 11:5 the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, Matt 11:5, Luke 7:22 and Matt 11:5 the deaf hear, the dead are raised Matt 11:5, Luke 7:22 up, and Matt 11:5

the gospel Matt 11:5, Luke 7:22

And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. Matt 11:6, Luke 7:23 And Matt 11:7, Luke 7:24

[as they Matt 11:7 / when the messengers of John Luke 7:24]

were Luke 7:24 departed, Matt 11:7, Luke 7:24

[Jesus Matt 11:7 / he Luke 7:24]

began to Matt 11:7, Luke 7:24

[say Matt 11:7 / speak Luke 7:24]

unto the Matt 11:7, Luke 7:24

[multitudes Matt 11:7 / people Luke 7:24]

concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness Matt 11:7, Luke 7:24 for Luke 7:24 to see? A reed shaken with the wind? Matt 11:7, Luke 7:24 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they Matt 11:8, Luke 7:25

[that wear soft clothing Matt 11:8 / which are gorgeously apparelled, Luke 7:25]

and live delicately, Luke 7:25 are in kings' Matt 11:8, Luke 7:25

[houses. Matt 11:8 / courts. Luke 7:25]

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and Matt 11:9, Luke 7:26 much Luke 7:26 more than a prophet. Matt 11:9, Luke 7:26 For Matt 11:10 this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Matt 11:10, Luke 7:27 For Luke 7:28 verily Matt 11:11 I say unto you, Among Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28

[them Matt 11:11 / those Luke 7:28]

that are born of women there Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28

[hath Matt 11:11 / is Luke 7:28]

not Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28 risen Matt 11:11 a greater Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28 prophet Luke 7:28 than John the Baptist: Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28

[notwithstanding Matt 11:11 / but Luke 7:28]

he that is least in the kingdom of Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28

[heaven Matt 11:11 / God Luke 7:28]

is greater than he. Matt 11:11, Luke 7:28

Matthew 11:12-15

12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Luke 7:29-31

29 And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

30 But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

31 And the Lord said,

But Matt 11:16 whereunto Matt 11:16, Luke 7:31 then Luke 7:31 shall I liken Matt 11:16, Luke 7:31 the men of Luke 7:31 this generation? Matt 11:16, Luke 7:31 and to what are they like? Luke 7:31

[It is Matt 11:16 / They are Luke 7:32]

like unto children sitting in the Matt 11:16, Luke 7:32

[markets, Matt 11:16 / marketplace, Luke 7:32]

and calling Matt 11:16, Luke 7:32

[unto their fellows, Matt 11:16 / one to another, Luke 7:32]

And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned Matt 11:17, Luke 7:32

[unto Matt 11:17 / to Luke 7:32]

you, and ye have not Matt 11:17, Luke 7:32

[lamented. Matt 11:17 / wept. Luke 7:32]

For John Matt 11:18, Luke 7:33 the Baptist Luke 7:33 came neither eating Matt 11:18, Luke 7:33 bread Luke 7:33 nor drinking Matt 11:18, Luke 7:33 wine; Luke 7:33 and Matt 11:18, Luke 7:33

[they Matt 11:18 / ye Luke 7:33]

say, He hath a devil. Matt 11:18, Luke 7:33 The Son of man Matt 11:19, Luke 7:34

[came Matt 11:19 / is come Luke 7:34]

eating and drinking, and Matt 11:19, Luke 7:34

[they Matt 11:19 / ye Luke 7:34]

say, Behold a Matt 11:19, Luke 7:34

[man gluttonous, Matt 11:19 / gluttonous man, Luke 7:34]

and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners! Matt 11:19, Luke 7:34 But wisdom is justified of Matt 11:19, Luke 7:35 all Luke 7:35 her children. Matt 11:19, Luke 7:35

51.    Jesus upbraids Chorazin, Bethsaida, and Capernaum, and invites the heavy-laden,

Matthew 11:20-30

20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

52.    Anointing of His feet, in the Pharisee Simon’s house, by the sinful but forgiven woman,

Luke 7:36-50

36 And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.

37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

40 And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

41 There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

43 Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

49 And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

53. Short circuit of two day’s preaching through Galilee; women ministering,

Luke 8:1-3

1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

2 And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,

3 And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.

54.    Returning to Capernaum, He heals a blind and dumb demoniac, the Pharisees attributing the

miracle to Beelzebub,

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: Matt 12:22 and he Matt 12:22, Luke 11:14

[healed him, Matt 12:22 / was casting out a devil, Luke 11:14]

and it was dumb. Luke 11:14

[insomuch that Matt 12:22 / And it came to pass, Luke 11:14]

when the devil was gone out, Luke 11:14 the Matt 12:22, Luke 11:14 blind and Matt 12:22 dumb Matt 12:22, Luke 11:14 both Matt 12:22 spake Matt 12:22, Luke 11:14 and saw; Matt 12:22 and the people wondered. Luke 11:14 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? Matt 12:23 But Matt 12:24, Luke 11:15 when Matt 12:24

[the Pharisees Matt 12:24 / some of them Luke 11:15]

And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem Mark 3:22 heard it, they Matt 12:24 said, Matt 12:24, Mark 3:22, Luke 11:15 He hath Beelzebub, and Mark 3:22 this fellow doth not cast out devils, but Matt 12:24

of the devils Matt 12:24, Mark 3:22, Luke 11:15 He Mark 3:22, Luke 11:15 casteth out devils. Mark 3:22, Luke 11:15

[And Jesus knew Matt 12:25 / But he, knowing Luke 11:17]

their thoughts, Matt 12:25, Luke 11:17 And he called them unto him, Mark 3:23 and Matt 12:25, Mark 3:23 said unto them Matt 12:25, Mark 3:23, Luke 11:17 in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? Mark 3:23

[Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; Matt 12:25, Luke 11:17 / And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. Mark 3:24]

and Matt 12:25, Mark 3:25, Luke 11:17 every city or Matt 12:25 if Mark 3:25 a Mark 3:25, Luke 11:17 house Matt 12:25, Mark 3:25, Luke 11:17 be Mark 3:25 divided against Matt 12:25, Mark 3:25, Luke 11:17

[shall not stand: Matt 12:25 / that house cannot stand. Mark 3:25 / falleth. Luke 11:17]

And Matt 12:26, Mark 3:26 if Satan Matt 12:26, Mark 3:26, Luke 11:18

[cast out Satan, Matt 12:26 / rise up against himself, and be divided, Mark 3:26 / also be divided against himself, Luke 11:18]

he is divided against himself; Matt 12:26 he cannot stand, but hath an end. Mark 3:26 how shall Matt 12:26, Luke 11:18 then Matt 12:26 his kingdom stand? Matt 12:26, Luke 11:18 because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. Luke 11:18 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your Matt 12:27, Luke 11:19

[children Matt 12:27 / sons Luke 11:19]

cast them out? therefore Matt 12:27, Luke 11:19 they Matt 12:27, Luke 11:19 shall Matt 12:27, Luke 11:19 be your judges. Matt 12:27, Luke 11:19 But if I Matt 12:28, Luke 11:20

[by the Spirit of God Matt 12:28 / with the finger of God Luke 11:20]

cast out devils, Matt 12:28, Luke 11:20

[then Matt 12:28 / no doubt Luke 11:20]

the kingdom of God is come Matt 12:28, Luke 11:20

you. Matt 12:28, Luke 11:20

[Or else how can one Matt 12:29 / No man can Mark 3:27]

enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he Matt 12:29, Mark 3:27 will Mark 3:27 first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Matt 12:29, Mark 3:27

Luke 11:21-22

21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:

22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.

He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth Matt 12:30, Luke 11:23 abroad. Matt 12:30 Wherefore Matt 12:31 verily Mark 3:28 I say unto you, All Matt 12:31, Mark 3:28

[manner of sin Matt 12:31 / sins Mark 3:28]

shall be forgiven unto Matt 12:31, Mark 3:28

[men: Matt 12:31 / the sons of men, Mark 3:28]

and Matt 12:31, Mark 3:28

[blasphemy Matt 12:31 / blasphemies Mark 3:28]

wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: Mark 3:28

[but the blasphemy Matt 12:31 / But he that shall blaspheme Mark 3:29]

against the Holy Ghost Matt 12:31, Mark 3:29

[shall not be forgiven unto men. Matt 12:31 / hath never forgiveness, Mark 3:29]

but is in danger of eternal damnation. Mark 3:29

Matthew 12:32-37

32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit. Mark 3:30
