The Constantinian Accord is our current ethos of "Church and State".
It dates from the Council of Nicaea in the Summer of 325 A.D.
Our current problem with the moral and political decline of Western nations.
A survey of past history and the spiritual underpinnings of Western Christendom.
There is now no question about it. Western Christendom is entering into a time of extreme duress. What follows is a thumbnail sketch. It is important to note that this analysis can only be understood and comprehended by those who know the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Judah, and Joseph and have a biblical world view. These are derived from the accounts written in both Old and New Testaments, and showcased by the saints from both sides of Calvary. This assessment is a spiritual one. It goes far beyond the cold facts of world politics and economics.. So, it can only be appreciated by those who have some interest and commitment to the God of Israel and His Christ, His coming Messiah.
Such people are in a blood covenant devotion to their Redeemer, Israel's promised Sacrifice Lamb, coming Lion of Judah, returning Judge and Shepherd-King. They know Him in their hearts by His Holy Spirit. He guides them in the peace of His righteous rule and Law, and in the blessed assurance, and the comfort of His redeeming Grace. Here are the main points.
The Constantinian Accord a provisional union of the Church with secular European kings and merchants.
1. The post-Nicene Constantinian Accord , the marriage of Church and State, "God and king" "politics and religion" dates back to 325 C.E. with the Council of Nicaea. It is 1700 years old as of the Summer of 2025. Throughout those centuries there was the good and the bad. Of course the rulers in church and state who turned out to be scoundrels were there in abundance. But so too were the heroes of the frays and the heroes of the faith.
So who has been sovereign in all these events? Was it man, God, or both? Sometimes the irksome and troublesome changes the kings of Europe hoped to avert, such as biblical revivals and wars, unfolded anyway. They were in the permissive will and ultimate plan of God. Such was the case in the 1500's when certain dramas of church and state played out involving King Henry VIII and Cardinal Wolsey.
The unfolding of God's Word will inevitably cause
conversations, questionings, and calls for reform.
This will upset the status quo in the offices of both
the church and the state.
Ever since the Council of Nicaea Western Christendom has had a measure protection under the kings, princes, dukes, and merchants of the West. But there can be no denying that in this post-modern era it is now suffering some serious moral decline. Of late we are seeing the mores of a good and moral society under relentless attack in a nihilistic destructive rebellion of "woke". Is this a temporary "bump in the road", a social malady that can be turned around? Or are we looking at the impending collapse of the Constantinian Accord?
If there is to be a collapse of the ethos of "God and king" then what is next? There has been much conversation in recent years of a coming threshold of world history, a "Great Reset". Might this be a regime change for financially strapped western nations, perhaps expanding in scope into a determined attempt by the powers that be to bring in some form of new "global governance"?
The Pax Americana
2. The Pax Americana dates back to 1945 and the end of World War 2. That was the last celebration of patriotic fervor for victorious returning soldiers of Western nations. The police wars in the interim, especially with Vietnam, saw that patriotic fervor significantly diminished.
As of August of 2025 the Pax America is now 80 years old. The last remaining superpower in Western Christendom is struggling to maintain world peace. Tensions are rising in the Middle East with Israel trying to deal with the Gaza. The US has made the B-2 Bomber air strikes on the nuclear facilities in Iran. Ukraine's war with Russia presents its dangers. Then on the domestic front the Western nations as a whole, are facing problems within the nations themselves. They endure a rabid spiritual assault by a cohort we can identify biblically from Daniel 9:26 as "the people of the prince who will come".
There is an existential threat and a "clear and present danger" of a nuclear attack on Israel by nuclear tipped supersonic missiles provided by China to the Ayatollahs in Iran to pass on to their proxies close to Israel. If Israel sees these being redied to launch from Damascus, close to Israel's eastern border, they could respond in kind and attack Damascus.
and a growing anger being amassed against both houses of Israel, those being the Jewish people and the nation in the land of Israel and the Christian world, which is currently under the protection of the "hindermost of nations", the American superpower. The big question here is just what can the American superpower do in response to these economic, ethnic, and spiritual polarizations? Will there be an attempt to restore the America and the world we once knew? And is that even possible? Or will there be an event in the Middle East or on the economic front that forces the Pax Americana into a compromise? And if it should be the latter, what might that compromise look like?
3. The Constantinian Accord was brokered by the Byzantine Roman Emperor Constantine in the 4th Century. He had received zero input and involvement from the Jewish Church, which after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and as noted in the Acts of the apostles had fallen from its former place of prominence. The Jewish church in Jerusalem had been the original core of the Church as it overflowed out of Jewish Israel on the Day of Pentecost. This came on the fiftieth day of the omer count from the Firstfruits Resurrection of the Jewish Messiah, in the late Spring season of the Passion Year.
4. The Jewish Church went into serious decline in the First Century. It should be noted that all 120 in the upper room that morning were Jews. It is also to be noted that the anointing they were given that epic day of new beginnings was a double anointing, as evidenced by the cloven tongues of fire that rested upon them. And now, nearly 300 years later, the House of David in Judah, the true sovereign of Israel and the Lawgiver as prophesied in Genesis 49, is completely absent from the deliberations going on at the Council of Nicaea. Is this important?
So then, what was this deal we, as the Congregation of Christ, the Church of Israel's promised Messiah, brokered, back in 325 C.E.? The Nicene Council did not feature or in any way include the royal Jewish House of David in Judah. Judah was, and still is destined to be God's Lawgiver, as prophesied by Jacob in Genesis 49 verse 10, and stated by King David in Psalm 60, verse 7.
5. The promised return of the Jewish House is fully assured by the prophet Zechariah in Zechariah chapter 12. The New Covenant in the hearts is the new administration of the Law by the Holy Spirit upholding the "Law of the Spirit". This "Law of the Spirit" is spoken of by the prophet Zechariah in Zechariah chapter 7 verse 12, and by the apostle Paul in Romans chapter 8 verse 2.
6. After the death of King Solomon in 932 came the Breach of Jeroboam. On that epic day the ten tribes walked out on the Jewish House of David. This was their legitimate sovereign. The prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah chapter 3 verse 8 declares that the House of Israel of these ten tribes of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, were divorced by the God of Israel under the Old Covenant. Where is their hope to be found now?
7. The problem of western disintegration into lawlessness is now becoming abundantly obvious. So then, can we perhaps survey at our current state of lawlessness in what was once some approximation to Western Christendom? Can we look at what we are lacking? Can we diagnose the problem here? Can we look at the remedy that in the New Covenant and and in communion with Messiah seems to have been offered to us?

God's Plan in His Great Reset as it plays out in the end-time drama and in
the days of the Latter Rain at the grand climax and consummation of the age.
So. all this being considered, what might the God of Israel have in store for His covenant people as we contemplate the end-time drama? Let us cut right to the chase here and consider some of the positive outcomes of this final shemitah of the Seventy Weeks Prophecy. As we see in Daniel chapter 9 verse 24, these final seven years of this age have been determined, or set apart, for God's divine purpose. As we look at Revelation chapter 7 we see a huge multi-national, multi-racial Harvest of souls, all accounted for under the 12 tribes of Israel. We also see a return to the Throne of David, which we walked out of 2975 years ago. This is that holy sovereignty that in Christ, the Son of David, and Lion of Judah, will take us back to the future into a Kingdom that will last forever.
It is also encouraging to see that the final 7 years of this age, (wherever that might be in the times up ahead), will not be just a chamber of horrors as we have been told by our dispensationalist friends. Instead this period of holy, set-apart time has actually been ordained of God to achieve a very wonderful positive divine purpose. And the provision to make this ahppen will come in the true and genuine Latter Rain. precisely as prophesied by the prophet Joel in Joel chapter 2, verses 28 to 32.
And as we consider the wonders, even the glories that lie ahead, can we allow faith to be overtaken by fear? And as we contemplate the surrender of self life that attend the end-time witness, the vision of splendor will be unveiled. With it comes the resolve to take the witness and God's great salvation to the ends of the earth, further than we have ever imagined, and beyond the limits of what we ever might have thought possible.
